Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup sugar divided
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Dash of salt

Instructions

  • Freeze the ice cream bowl of a 2QT ice cream maker overnight.
  • In a medium bowl, mix chopped strawberries with 1/2 cup of sugar. Let it sit for 15 minutes to release juices.
  • Blend the strawberries until smooth.
  • In a large bowl, combine the strawberry puree, heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, salt, and the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar. Mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and churn per the manufacturer's instructions, usually around 30 minutes.
  • Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture.
  • For firmer ice cream, transfer it to a loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  • Scoop the frozen ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy!
